The Muscatine County Fair Board would like to invite residents of West Liberty and Muscatine County along with surrounding areas to be a part of a ground breaking for the rehabilitation of the historic Swine Pavilion. The ground breaking will take place Friday, March 27th at 3:30PM.

The Fair Board, in conjunction with the Muscatine County Historic Preservation Commission, has been working on a large project to nominate the buildings on the Fairgrounds to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and to rehabilitate the historic structures. Kent Corporation kicked off the project with a $360,000 gift for the rehab and the Fair Board has been successful in raising the matching funds for the first year transfer. Based on need, the Swine Pavilion was selected as the first project, and the plan is to complete the rehab by Fair 2015. The Swine Pavilion was originally built in 1918 and is a key structure for the nomination to the National Registry.

All residents of Muscatine County and neighboring areas are invited to attend this public event. The ground breaking will take place at the Swine Pavilion located at the south entrance of the fairgrounds. Representatives from the Fair Board, Kent Corporation, and the Muscatine County Historic Preservation Commission will be in attendance.

Please contact the fair office at 319-627-2414 with questions.
